Funny stories and T time

This morning as Briley and I were standing in front of her closet deciding what to wear, she asked me, "Mommy, is it going to be warm or cold today?" This might seem like a strange question for every day conversation, but when you live in East TN, it is a legitimate one. The weather has been known to go from 70 degrees to 50 degrees in one day. Makes it hard for a girl to get dressed in the morning!!!

Sunday night as we were getting ready for choir, Briley was playing with my makeup mirror. She looked at herself and said she looked pretty. She held it to me and said mommy doesn't look pretty (I wasn't going to choir and was all sweaty and gross from being outside so it was okay that she said this). Then she held it up to daddy and said "perfect!" Have I ever told you that she is a self professed DADDY'S GIRL???

So far, I've posted mostly things about Briley. Since she's old enough to talk, you just never know what will come out of her mouth. Let me spend a few minutes telling you how sweet Tinsley is growing up. She walks all over the place at a very fast pace. She LOVES to be outside and loves to laugh at caterpillars crawling around on her sister's hand. She tucks her sippy cup beside her in her car seat (which I think is adorable). The other day she was making her little uh, uh noise and walked to the fridge for me to open it because she wanted her milk. She is a mommy's girl, and I am working to keep it that way. She loves to dance when she hears music. If she could sing, I'm sure that she would know every Taylor Swift song just like her big sister, as we listen to the CDs in the car all the time! She tries to put ponytails, hair barrettes and headbands in her hair, but her fuzz on top just won't cooperate. She loves her soft blankets, reading her books for bedtime, playing with the stuffed monkey that is hanging from her light and giving kisses. I could go on and on ...

Sweet dreams!

Somewhere between teeny bopper and tankini

I have determined that this is where my current bathing suit body falls. I'm not quite svelte enough to wear the barely there (especially in the rear area) junior suits, but I'm not quite ready to give up my bikini and the tans lines I so adore (you'll be happy to know that I have made my peace with sunscreen and will apply something stronger than spf 4). So I'm left somewhere in between the body I used to have (and didn't fully appreciate) and the post-baby body that is now mine to suit up. Don't get me wrong-God blessed me with two healthy girls, and I wouldn't trade them for anything. I just wish I could have been one of those girls who was back in her pre-pregnancy clothes by the end of the first month!

All that being said ... I have embarked on the journey of finding a new swimsuit or two for the summer. We are going to the beach in about 3 weeks, and I went shopping at Marshall's yesterday during lunch to see what I could find. I'll have to say that the sun I was able to soak in over the weekend definitely helped with the overall look when trying the bathing suits on---tan cellulite is much more attractive than pale cellulite! Anyway, I found some good choices and brought them all home to determine what I might keep. I did pick out some of the most expensive bathing suits I've bought in a long time: $29.99 (gasp) I'm used to my $14.99 Marshall's/TJ Maxx prices, but I guess the more mature bathing suits are also the more expensive ones.

So we'll see what happens and which bathing style ends up agreeing with me the best! Here is a picture of the suits I purchased yesterday, all of which can be taken back of course :-)

Here we go ...

Well, I've been wanting to do a blog of my own for awhile because I LOVE reading those done by others. I hope to get things figured out soon, so please be patient as I work through the details.

I'll start with a funny Briley statement from today: "Mommy, I had to go get a drink of your water because my energies were hurting." I think she meant she was getting tired and thirsty, but I like her way of expressing it.

I can't do my first post and not include pictures---because those are what make blogs so much fun! Here are some photos from my birthday celebration at PF Chang's and at home. My mother-in-law would be proud because Chad made sure that I had a cake (ice cream, of course) with candles to blow out (and no, the candles don't add up-ha)!
